5 Second Fix: How to Change Your Work at Home Posture To Get Rid of Back Pain

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, many people have had to change their work setup from in the office to our homes. Without the correct desk, computer, mouse, or chair, many people have developed pain from prolonged periods of poor posture.

Research has shown that an ergonomic work desk setup can reduce pain intensity in the neck, shoulder, upper back, and wrist/hand.

Tips to achieve this desk setup without purchasing new equipment:

  • To raise your laptop or desktop — set it on top of 1-2 books

  • To improve back support – add a pillow to the back rest, or roll up a towel horizontally and place at the curve of your low back

  • To raise your chair height — add 1-2 pillows to the seat

Below is a picture of the ideal posture while seated at your desk. Give it a try!
